Altoids tin can video camera mount for $3-$11
I saw a bike camera mount on Makezine the other day and it inspired me to do this project. I wanted some night-time car footage from my video camera and I'm way too cheap to buy any sort of professional mount.
What I did was take an Altoids can and drill a hole in the top to fit a 1/4 20" 3/4" machine screw. Then I put a washer on either side of the tin and a nylon locking nut on top to hold it together. In the bottom of the tin I put some hard drive magnets from dead drives and it was a strong magnet mount.
Below are some pictures of it and it held up a clawhammer and the video camera when the mount was against my door.

I noticed the camera footage was slightly bouncy and I will add epoxy insde the can to harden the mount and put a thin layer of ductape on the bottom to protect paint from scratching. Or maybe I will rubber coat it.
